The Grumman G-164 Ag-Cat is a rugged agricultural biplane that became one of the most successful crop-dusting aircraft in American aviation history. First flown in 1957, the Ag-Cat was Grumman's entry into the civilian agricultural market, applying the company's legendary structural engineering from naval fighters to the demanding world of low-altitude aerial application. Built with a steel-tube fuselage and fabric-covered wings, the biplane configuration provided exceptional slow-flight handling and the ability to operate from short, unprepared strips adjacent to fields.
