Quest Aircraft Company Kodiak 100
Single Turboprop
The Quest Kodiak 100 is a rugged single-engine turboprop utility aircraft purpose-built for short takeoff and landing operations in remote and austere environments. Designed by Quest Aircraft Company in Sandpoint, Idaho, and first certified in 2007, the Kodiak was engineered from the ground up to serve missionary organizations, bush operators, and humanitarian missions requiring access to unprepared strips in challenging terrain. Its Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-34 engine delivers 750 shaft horsepower, enabling the aircraft to carry up to ten occupants or 3,000 pounds of cargo while operating from runways as short as 1,000 feet. The Kodiak's high wing, robust landing gear, and exceptional slow-flight characteristics make it a favorite for operations in Alaska, Africa, and South America, where paved runways are scarce and reliability is paramount. The aircraft can be configured with floats, skis, or oversized tundra tires, and its large cargo door facilitates rapid loading of supplies, medical equipment, or passengers. With a maximum cruise speed around 180 knots and a range exceeding 1,000 nautical miles, the Kodiak strikes a practical balance between payload capacity and endurance. Its stall speed in landing configuration is just 49 knots, providing a comfortable safety margin for backcountry approaches. SkyMeter has tracked 5 flights across 3 airframes and 3 operators, with CSC DELAWARE TRUST CO TRUSTEE the largest observed operator.
Safety in context
The incident rate counts flights with ANY safety event detected by SkyMeter — go-arounds (a routine response, not a failure), unstable-approach gate flags (advisory thresholds), rejected takeoffs (the system working as designed), and runway events. It is NOT an accident rate or fatality rate. For accident statistics, refer to the NTSB Aviation Accident Database (USA) or the Aviation Safety Network. See methodology for what each event type measures.
