The Mitsubishi MU-2 is a high-performance twin-turboprop business aircraft that earned both devoted followers and a controversial safety record during its production run from 1963 to 1986. Built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan, the MU-2 was designed as a fast, efficient corporate transport and light cargo hauler, with over 700 aircraft delivered across numerous variants. What set the MU-2 apart was its unusually high wing loading, full-span double-slotted flaps with no ailerons, and spoilers for roll control, a configuration that delivered exceptional cruise speed and short-field performance but demanded precise pilot technique, particularly in the landing phase.
