Aerospool Wt9 Dynamic

Single Piston

The Aerospool WT9 Dynamic is a Slovak-designed two-seat ultralight and Light Sport Aircraft that has become popular across Europe and North America since its introduction in the late 1990s. Built by Aerospool in Prievidza, Slovakia, the WT9 features a low-wing configuration with a composite fuselage and fabric-covered wings, offering an efficient blend of performance and economy for sport pilots and flight training operations. The aircraft typically uses Rotax 912-series engines producing 80-100 horsepower, giving it a cruise speed around 115 knots and a range exceeding 600 nautical miles on modest fuel burn. What distinguishes the WT9 in the crowded LSA market is its European pedigree combined with excellent handling characteristics and a relatively spacious cockpit for the category. The type meets both European ultralight regulations and U.S. LSA certification requirements, making it one of the few designs that successfully bridges both markets. Its low stall speed of 37 knots in landing configuration and docile flight characteristics have made it a favorite for ab-initio training, while the cruise performance appeals to cross-country sport pilots. The aircraft's 1,320-pound maximum takeoff weight places it at the upper limit of the LSA category, allowing for practical payload with full fuel. SkyMeter has tracked 629 flights across 143 airframes and 2 operators, with WOOD-THOMAS CYRUS A, MANLEY SCOTT P the largest observed operator.

Safety in context

The incident rate counts flights with ANY safety event detected by SkyMeter: go-arounds (a routine response, not a failure), unstable-approach gate flags (advisory thresholds), rejected takeoffs (the system working as designed), and runway events. It is NOT an accident rate or fatality rate. For accident statistics, refer to the NTSB Aviation Accident Database (USA) or the Aviation Safety Network. See methodology for what each event type measures.
