The Yakovlev Yak-50 is a single-seat aerobatic aircraft designed in the Soviet Union during the mid-1970s specifically for competition aerobatics and advanced pilot training. Built by the Yakovlev Design Bureau and first flown in 1975, it became the dominant force in international aerobatic competition throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, winning multiple World Aerobatic Championships.
