3D Model Credits

The 3D aircraft models in our replay viewer are sourced from three places. The replay viewer's ⓘ icon names which one was used for that flight; this page is the consolidated credits register.

FlightAirMap

A long-running open community project for live ADS-B tracking. The model set covers most airliners and a long tail of GA / business types. Distributed under CC-BY-SA 4.0; derivative works (the offset/normalize step we apply) carry forward the same license.

FR24-derivative community models

A handful of FR24-style "blueprint" community models fill gaps the FlightAirMap set doesn't cover (some glider, fighter, and helicopter silhouettes). These are distributed in their authors' open repositories under per-asset terms; we re-host them under the same conditions. If you're an author and would like a takedown or correction, contact [email protected].

Sketchfab uploads (custom)

For ICAO types where neither set has a usable mesh, we upload a CC-BY 4.0 Sketchfab asset via the admin tool. Each upload preserves the artist's name and source URL in our AircraftModelOffsets registry; the replay ⓘ popover surfaces the artist + license for that specific flight. As of launch, the registry contains a small set of hand-picked replacements for business jets, gliders, and regional turboprops.

Fallback (no own model)

If a flight's ICAO type has no model in any of the above, the viewer falls back to a generic Pilatus PC-12 silhouette (the closest single-engine turboprop) at the type's known wingspan. The ⓘ popover calls this out so the rendering isn't mistaken for an exact match.
