Bell 214 N511EV collides with another firefighting helicopter near Psatha, Greece killing two

ADS-B data reviewed by SkyMeter shows N511EV, a Bell 214 helicopter operated by Bank of Utah Trustee, flying multiple sorties in the area near Elefsis Airport (LGEL) west of Athens on August 2, 2026. The aircraft's track spans roughly four hours and sixteen minutes, from 7:42 a.m. local time (07:42 UTC) to just before noon, reaching a maximum altitude of 3,664 feet MSL and a top ground speed of 110 knots.

The recorded track shows three distinct operational segments separated by ground stops, consistent with a water-dropping firefighting mission. In the first segment, the helicopter departed heading northwest before executing a series of turns east, north, and west near Elefsis. A second segment beginning around 10:17 a.m. local time shows the aircraft flying eastward at roughly 3,300 feet before descending on what appears to be an approach, coming to a stop at 376 feet at 10:25 a.m. A third and final segment launched at 11:44 a.m., climbing to approximately 3,190 feet and flying a westward heading near 288 degrees for several minutes before the track ends abruptly at 11:58 a.m. with a descent rate steepening to 3,360 feet per minute in the final seconds of the recording.

According to Roya News, two firefighting helicopters collided in midair while battling a wildfire near Psatha in the Boeotia region of Greece, about 45 miles northwest of Athens, and two crew members aboard one of the helicopters were killed. The steep descent rate and abrupt track termination visible in the ADS-B data in the final seconds are consistent with that account.
