About the Gulfstream Aerospace Gulfstream G150
The Gulfstream G150 is a midsize business jet that began life as the IAI Astra SPX before Gulfstream Aerospace acquired the program in 2001 and rebranded it. Built in Israel by Israel Aerospace Industries under Gulfstream's ownership, the G150 entered service in 2006 as an evolution of the proven Astra lineage, offering transcontinental range and a stand-up cabin in a relatively compact airframe. Powered by twin Honeywell TFE731-40AR turbofans, the aircraft cruises at Mach 0.85 and can fly up to 3,000 nautical miles, making it a popular choice for corporate flight departments needing reliable point-to-point capability without the operating costs of a large-cabin jet.
The G150's cabin seats up to eight passengers in a 5.8-foot-tall interior, and its short-field performance allows access to airports that larger Gulfstreams cannot reach. Maximum operating altitude is 45,000 feet, and the type is known for dispatch reliability and relatively modest fuel burn in its class. Production ended in 2017 after approximately 120 units were delivered, as Gulfstream shifted focus to its larger G280 successor. The G150 remains a capable workhorse in the pre-owned market, favored by owner-operators and smaller charter companies for its blend of range, cabin comfort, and operating economics.
SkyMeter has tracked flights across airframes and operators, with the largest observed operator.
