The McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30 is the stretched variant of the iconic DC-9 family, introduced in 1967 to bridge the gap between the original Series 10 and the longer Series 40. With seating for up to 115 passengers in its original airline configuration, the -30 became the workhorse of short-haul jet operations throughout the 1970s and 1980s, combining the DC-9's signature rear-mounted Pratt & Whitney JT8D turbofans with improved range and payload capacity.
