Wildcat Aircraft Wildcat

Single Piston

The Wildcat is a single-seat, single-engine taildragger designed and manufactured by Wildcat Aircraft as an experimental amateur-built kit. Introduced in the early 2000s, it represents a modern take on classic light sport aviation, combining traditional tube-and-fabric construction with contemporary materials and design refinements. The aircraft is built to comply with Light Sport Aircraft regulations where applicable, featuring a maximum takeoff weight of 1,320 pounds and straightforward stick-and-rudder flying characteristics that appeal to recreational pilots seeking an affordable, back-to-basics flying experience. Powered by a variety of small piston engines typically in the 65-100 horsepower range, the Wildcat offers modest performance well-suited to local flying and short grass strips. Its low stall speed of around 35 knots in landing configuration and never-exceed speed of 120 knots define a comfortable envelope for sport flying. The open-cockpit or enclosed-canopy variants provide builders with customization options, and the aircraft's simple systems and construction methods make it accessible to first-time kit builders. While not designed for cross-country speed or payload, the Wildcat excels in its intended role as an economical, fun-to-fly personal aircraft. Safety in context

The incident rate counts flights with ANY safety event detected by SkyMeter — go-arounds (a routine response, not a failure), unstable-approach gate flags (advisory thresholds), rejected takeoffs (the system working as designed), and runway events. It is NOT an accident rate or fatality rate. For accident statistics, refer to the NTSB Aviation Accident Database (USA) or the Aviation Safety Network. See methodology for what each event type measures.
