The Airbus A340-500 holds the distinction of being the longest-range commercial airliner ever built at the time of its introduction, capable of flying up to 9,000 nautical miles nonstop, a record that enabled unprecedented ultra-long-haul city pairs like Singapore to New York and Toronto to Hong Kong.
