The Terrafugia Transition holds the distinction of being the world's first street-legal airplane to receive both FAA airworthiness certification and NHTSA road-use approval. Developed by MIT engineers and first flown in 2009, this light sport aircraft features folding wings that retract in under a minute, allowing it to drive on public roads and park in a standard garage.
