About the Piper Aztec

The Piper PA-27 Aztec is a twin-engine piston aircraft that became one of general aviation's most successful light twins during its 1959–1981 production run. Developed from the earlier Apache, the Aztec offered improved performance with fuel-injected engines, greater payload capacity, and a reputation for rugged reliability that made it a workhorse for charter operators, flight schools, and small cargo services across North America and beyond. With seating for five or six occupants and a useful load approaching 1,800 pounds in later variants, the Aztec carved out a niche as an affordable step-up from single-engine aircraft for pilots seeking multi-engine capability without the operating costs of larger twins.
