About the BRM Aero Bristell B23

The Bristell is a modern Czech light sport aircraft designed by Milan Bristela and manufactured by BRM Aero near Prague. First flown in 2009, it quickly became one of Europe's most popular LSA designs, certified under both EASA CS-LSA and FAA Special Light-Sport Aircraft rules. The Bristell's appeal lies in its combination of docile handling, excellent visibility through its bubble canopy, and genuinely practical cross-country performance: cruise speeds around 120 knots on a Rotax 912 or 914 engine make it faster than many legacy trainers while burning less fuel.

The aircraft is available in taildragger and tricycle-gear variants, with the latter (Bristell Classic and B23) dominating the training and touring markets. Build quality is notably high for the LSA category, with metal construction, a roomy side-by-side cockpit, and modern avionics as standard. The type has found favor with flying clubs across Central Europe, where its 1,320-pound maximum weight, low operating costs, and forgiving stall characteristics make it ideal for ab-initio training and recreational flying.

While it lacks the name recognition of American LSA brands in the U.S. market, the Bristell has carved out a strong niche in Europe, where OK-registered examples are a common sight at grass strips and towered airports alike. SkyMeter has tracked flights across airframes and operators, with the largest observed operator.
