The British Aerospace 146-200 is a high-wing regional jet distinguished by its four Lycoming ALF 502 turbofans and exceptional short-field performance, making it one of the quietest commercial jets ever built and uniquely suited to steep-approach airports like London City. Introduced in 1983 as the stretched variant of the original BAe 146-100, the -200 seats 85-100 passengers and became the backbone of European regional operations throughout the 1980s and 1990s, earning the nickname "Whisperjet" for its remarkably low noise signature.
